Membership FAQ (for current members and prospective members)

Version 3-1999

If you have any questions about any aspect of the application process, please e-mail me, Julie Bihn, at the address above.

What is TAOGH, and what is its goal?

"The Adventures of Gadget Hackwrench" has been on the Internet for around three years now, and I would love to see more things done with it, more scripts, etc. Although The doesn't have time to maintain it, I, Julie, would love to get this thing rolling again--it'd be great if I wasn't the only one writing scripts for it anymore!

What does membership involve?

Being a "Member" means being a story writer with an interest in writing script-style stories starring Gadget as the central character in the TAOGH continuity. All the stories don't have to exclude the other Rangers or anything; Gadget simply has to serve a pivotal role in the story.

Am I eligible to be a member?

Well, do you...

1) consider yourself a Rescue Ranger fan or Rangerphile, or at the very least, a Gadgephile? If you are reading this, you're probably a Ranger fan, so don't worry about it.

2) have at least a good understanding of the all the Rangers' personalities? (ie. what they would and wouldn't say. For example, Gadget probably wouldn't say, "Golly, I look great in this party dress, don't I?" unless there was some explanation for this abnormal behavior.). You should also know how to handle the villains you plan to use in your scripts.

If you meet these requirements, you're eligible!

But I'm under 18. Can I still be a member of TAOGH?

Sure! There is no age requirement for TAOGH, as long as you can write scripts and want them to be put up here!

If, though, you are under the age of 13, or feel a bit uneasy about the process, then please talk this over with your parents.

NOTE TO PARENTS: If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, I strongly urge you to e-mail me, Julie Bihn, current maintainer of TAOGH, at jbihn@u.arizona.edu. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and if need be, special exceptions in the guidelines can be made concerning your child's membership.

I want to draw pictures for TAOGH, but I can't write. Can I still be a member?

If you only wish to contribute graphics or other elements to TAOGH and not stories, please visit the Project TAOGH page. You will be credited for your work if you contribute art, but membership in TAOGH is restricted to people who want to write stories.

What if I don't want to put my e-mail address on the Internet?

If you don't want your e-mail address to appear on the TAOGH homepage, just indicate it on the membership application. When you do this, all e-mail to you will be sent to my e-mail address and I will forwarded the messages to you. You decide if you want to respond or not. I'll even forward your responses back if you so desire. Or, if you prefer, no e-mail will be sent to you at all. It's up to you.

What if you use one of my scripts but I decide later that I want you to take it down?

Once you submit a story to TAOGH, this site reserves the right to display the script for as long as this site so desires. However, you may post the stories in other places as well, if you so desire--just keep in mind that it will always be here, no matter how much you beg and plead for us to take it down. ;) (I may consider letting you revise your work later, as long as it doesn't change major plot points in your work--I know what it's like to put something online and then decide it's not that good...)

Is there anything I can't write about in my stories?

You may not write sexual situations, vulgar, or offensive material. Please keep in the spirit of the Rescue Rangers series from television. If you've seen even one episode of the show, you probably know what kind of things are and aren't alone; it's a Disney cartoon show. TAOGH reserves the right to refuse to post any offensive stories. If you're unsure as to what's offensive, e-mail me. Just keep in mind that the series is G-rated, and safe for all audience. Who knows--maybe someday Disney will take notice...

Are there any other requirements for my stories?

Please keep your stories in script style, and follow the events that have transpired earlier in the scripts.

What if I don't want to be a member anymore?

Just e-mail me at jbihn@u.arizona.edu and ask that you be removed. Remember that your stories will still exsist in TAOGH as long as the site is online. The e-mail address will still be included at your option.

Can I copyright my stories?

Sorry, no. These characters we're writing about are copyright of Disney, so any story written about them can't be copyrighted, whether it's a TAOGH story or not. But if you've ever wanted to write a Ranger fanfic, please do so--there's a large online community that would love to read it!

Why would I want to join TAOGH, anyway? I have my own website...

TAOGH is a great way to earn exposure for your writing--even in a stagnant state, it has been averaging over 200 hits a month to the main index page. TAOGH stories are some of the most-read fanfics out there. Not only that, but we'll link to your webpage on our credits page, and you can still post your TAOGH scripts on your webpage. You've got nothing to lose! Besides, as a TAOGH member, you'll get to read TAOGH stories before they hit the web, and will be kept up to date on all happenings with the site!

You've sold me; I'd love to be a member. Please tell me how...

Please download and complete the application if you wish to become a TAOGH member. You can just copy and paste the whole thing into an e-mail to jbihn@u.arizona.edu if you wish, and we'll get you set up as soon as possible!

Thanks...
