What is he thinking?Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers Comic Book Database
Introduction
What in the world am I thinking?

A good number of years ago I set out upon a mission (thankfully not through snow ^_^, though I think it rained once) to gather together the entire run of the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Ranger comic book series. I visited two comic stores in Tulsa called Vintage Stock and Starbase 21. Over the course of several trips, transactions, and smiles, I managed to finally collect the entire series.

19 issues were published in all, from June 1990 to December 1991. They are in the standard stock and dimensions for U.S. comic books. The cover price was $1.50 US, $1.95 CAN. Each story was about 26 pages in length (less full page advertisements)

The complete collection.     It should be pointed out that this Comic run has nothing to do with the Rescue Ranger comics that appeared in the Disney Adventure magazine (which will be the subject of another database). These comics are, by comparison, far superior to the ones in the DA mag in terms of storyline and artwork. This is more the case in later issues of the magazine. The CDRR comic managed to stay consistent with the series through its entire 19 issue run.

Many of the stories in the comics are unique in that they are not adapted directly from the series. There are a few exceptions though; issues #1 and #2 are adaptations of the pilot episode(s) To the Rescue, while #3 is a partial adaptation of Piratsy Under the Seas. The adaptations are faithful though abbreviated for a 26-page comic. Other than that, most stories are unique. The writers even managed to pull off an entire arc known as the King of Beasts caper.

     Rescue Rangers, Away!
