"The name says it all." oschindler Subj: An Incredible Talent Date: 96-03-08 19:19:43 EST From: HKUriah Tress is clearly one of the most prolific voice (and talented) actresses in cartoons today. In addition to her more famous voices, such as Babs Bunny, Dot Warner, Gadget, Hello Nurse, and a host of minor characthers on TTA and A! (which I don't name for fear of getting them wrong), she also has many other characters that many people probabsly don't even realize that she does them. I've seen her name many times on The Simpsons lately, and I'm at a loss to say who she is voiceing. That's a compliment BTW, it proves just how much TALENT she has that she can do a voice that is not instantly recognized as something she has done before. And then there is her recent voicing of Penelope in Carrot Blanca. Not only was this voice pleasantly unique from Babs or Dot, but it also sounded like it was the perfect match for the "Le gasp, Le Pant, Le wheeze" that Penelope voiced all those years ago in just one of her cartoons. Creating a new voice that fits perfectly with an old established one is a remarkable feat for anyone to accomplish. I guess when it comes right down to it, there are really only three other voice artists that I feel have as much talent as this lady does, June Foray, Mae Questal, and Mel Blanc. Puts her in good company, no? BTW, does anyone by me remember when Tress made an all too brief appearance here in Toon Talk a few months ago? Maybe she'll come back again now that we are being so nice to her, I hope! Subj: Re:Tress MacNeille Date: 96-03-08 19:22:21 EST From: RMP McDuck Well, I've actaully been working on a list of all the voices that she's done for The Disney Afternoon. BTW, Tress now does Shenzi, the hyena, on Timon and Pumbaa, instead of Whoopi Goldberg!!! She's GREAT! Becky Subj: Re:Tress MacNeille Date: 96-03-08 19:26:06 EST From: RMP McDuck Oooo, I love Rescue Rangers!!! That's how I became her fan! Chip's my favorite voice that she's done; Gadget comes in second. Not only is Tress my favorite voice actress, but she's also my all-time favorite actress! Becky Subj: Re:Tres MacNellie Date: 96-03-09 02:07:44 EST From: TOON MAG She is also 'Mrs. Peenmen' on THE MASK series. Subj: Oschindler's List. . . The "Encyclopdia of Animated Cartoons" stops on the list at "The Wuzzles." The rest I filled in. . . She also appears in "Elvira's Mistris of the Dark Movie." Which I have "almost rented" on several occasions but passed up for something else. . . P.S. If you really want a challange you should make a list of either "Don Messick" or Frank Welker." My Two Cents: Tress's best work is of course "Babs Bunny and Gadget." Subj: Re:Oschindler's List. . .Con't Date: 96-03-10 22:35:45 EST From: OSCHINDLER After further thought. . . (My guess is that she's "Lunch Lady Doris.") Yup, Lunch lady Doris (sometimes) and Skinner's mom. She has also done other voices, usually little boys. >Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - "Additional Voice" The only recourring role she had there was Calla, who appeared in about 3 or 4 episodes. That was the little alien chick with orange hair who was in love with Michaelangelo. Very cute! >Tiny Toon Adventures - Babs/Big Boo Big Boo was in "How I spent My Vacation" FYI. She also did some of the possums too, and lots of cameo voices for TTA like Cher. >Anamaniacs - Dot/Hello Nurse Animaniacs. Besides Dot and Hello Nurse she is also Miss Flamiel, Marita Hippo, Marita's tiki bird, Gina Embreo (sp?), Otto's girlfriend, and lots of cameo bits like the Hippo's housekeeper, Trudy, Rita Repulsa, etc. >The Critic - (?) She's done some cameo parts, the most memorable being the little Cuban girl that Marty fell in love with. SWATCats: Calli (? It's been a long time since i've seen SWATCats) Mighty Max: Mom (I've heard about her and Rob joking that sometimes she's his sister, sometimes his mother, etc) Darkwing Duck: Dr. Sarah Bellum The Lion King's Timon and Pumba: Shenzi Beethoven: the female dog (I don't know her name) Freakazoid: Cobra Queen!! The Mask: Mrs. Peenman There's also another show I can't remember the name of. She played a little star creature or something like that, and also the villain. "Twinkle" maybe? ***On-Screen Apperances*** TTA on E! interview (with Adler, LaMarche, Alaskey) A! on E! interview (with Harnell) "Elvira Mistress who's a Dork" (you know what I mean) ^o^ Tress played the anchorwoman at the beginning "Cheers" I don't know the episode name, but she played a woman who threw her drink into what's his name's face (sorry, I know nothing about Cheers!) "Ricky" the music video with Weird Al Yankovic. She not only played Lucy in the video, but she sang Lucy's part too! Very cute! ***Animated Movies*** Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland: Elevator assistant, or something like that The Land Before Time 2: one of the mothers. I don't know the name because the movie made me puke and I just FFed to the parts with Rob. If I think of anymore I will post them, 'kkay? ~~Karen Subj: The Simpsons-Tress Date: 96-03-11 18:15:25 EST From: Iago Bird Tress is Mrs. Ned Flanders. I'm sure of that. Date: 96-03-12 20:32:16 EST From: Nefaria BTW, Tress also voices Babs' Mom, Babs' Grandma, Rubella Rat, and a bunch of other smaller characters on TTA. I'm sure she's got tons of bit parts on A! in addition to Dot. She hasn't answered her email since she was mailbombed by EvilD a while back. But she's really wonderful to meet in RL (I met her once in Cleveland of all places). Funny, hyperactive, and a little flirty, just like her lovable bunny. =) Subj: Re:KJTDot's List! ^o^ Date: 96-03-12 22:51:41 EST From: Sonic90127 You forgot Charlotte of Rugrats. I think the movie came out in '85, but I know I have cartoons recorded that Tress was on before '85. Becky Subj: Re:Rainbow Brite? Date: 96-03-13 19:32:38 EST From: OSCHINDLER My guess is that she "like Rob Paulsen" has done hundreds if not thousands of voice roles. Many are unscripted such as Harvey Keitel's character in "Get Shorty." Or Pauly Shore's character in a Goofy Movie. BTW: Rob has been in two live action movies has anybody seen 'em? I'll have to look up the names at a later date. oschindler Subj: Tress Credits Date: 96-03-25 01:08:48 EST From: KJT Dot Here's the list I promised. I even put it in alphabetical order!!
